Pet Tamer's Handbook

Scorpion
If you are looking for a creature to cuddle and pet, the scorpion is not for you. But, if you are interested in a relatively easy to keep pet that will make you look bad ass, it might be the one for you. Scorpions are characterized by their long tails that house a powerful stinger, as well as their two large front pinchers. There are two different colors of scorpions, and three different species (two of which are tamable).
Black Scorpion
Black scorpions can be tamed directly from the wild. They are considered to be the most docile of all the scorpions. Their venom is mild, so their sting is equivalent to a bee’s sting. They can be found in the Deadwood Forest and the Oren Jungle.

Red Scorpion
Although weaker, and far more common, the red scorpion is actually more difficult to tame (in comparison to the black scorpion). This type can be found in the Crypt, roughly five or more levels down.

Capturing a Scorpion
To catch a scorpion in the wild, all you will need are some tongs (which can be made from wood or iron) and something to contain it, such as a barrel or jug. Using the tongs, grab the scorpion by its tail, right behind its stinger. Gently lift it up, avoiding its pinchers, into your container.
Other Facts
Pet scorpions like to rearrange their furnishings. It is recommended that you leave everything the way your pet has left them; otherwise, you could stress him or her out.
Scorpions can live several deochs –longer than most insect-type pets.
All scorpions have venom, but the strength of it differs from each breed.
If you stay overnight in a scorpions habitat, make sure you check your boots before putting them on – a scorpion may have made a temporary home of it!
Untameable: Desert Dunes Scorpion
Although very similar to the red scorpion, this species is much more difficult to tame and care for. It is accustomed to much higher temperatures than can be mimicked outside of the Desert Dunes. This makes it rather impossible to keep it alive as a pet.
Caring For Your Scorpion
When you select the container to keep your scorpion in keep in mind that they are known to be able to climb up very slanted surfaces. The container should have flat sides or sides that bow-inwards. The housing should be set up to mimic the scorpion’s natural habitat. Start by filling it with a decent amount of soil – enough to allow the scorpion depth to burrow.
Scorpions like to climb, so include plenty of rocks, tree branches and sticks. Just be sure that you don’t overcrowd the scorpion’s new home. Keep the housing slightly moist (enough so the scorpion does not dry out), and warm. Do not leave it out in direct sunlight, as it can be very dangerous for your new pet. Scorpions drink a lot of water, so make sure you provide plenty in a shallow dish. If the dish is not shallow enough the scorpion may end up drowning, so do not use a large dish.
Your pet scorpion only needs to be fed once a double-moon. It is not uncommon for them to not eat all of the insects you give them. Just make sure you remove any that have not been eaten within a reasonable amount of time, or the insects could bite your pet.
Keep an eye on the temperature of your scorpion’s new environment; if it becomes too cold the scorpion may refuse to eat; if it becomes too hot, the pet may actually sting itself.
Do not house two scorpions together as it is likely that they will fight each other for food, and one may ultimately eat the other.

Taming Your Scorpion
Do not grab your pet with bare hands until after you have spent awhile taming it. The best way to pick them up is to scoop them with your hand. Try to keep it as flat as possible to discourage pinching or stinging.
Less experienced tamers are recommended to take some basic steps in order to keep safe, such as binding the scorpions claws; at the very least, they should have the stingers removed on more potent breeds. Expect to be stung many times in your quest to actually tame your pet. Do not overhandle them, though, because it can cause serious stress.

Other Methods of Obtaining a Scorpion
Scorpions carry their babies on their backs, so during the correct time of the deoch, you may get lucky enough to catch a baby. The younger the scorpion, the easier the taming process is.
Both the black scorpion and red scorpion can also be bought from a breeder ((Kruna shop for 300 and 325 Kruna, respectively)).
