Pet Tamer's Handbook

She was standing at the edge of a pond with a net held out, ready to be cast once her prey was in position. At first, I thought she was a simple fisherman looking for a small meal in the murky pools.
After a moment, however, I realized that it was not towards the water that her aim was directed; instead, the girl was staring down at a clump of sedge grass.
There was movement in the long grass, and as I moved closer I wondered what sort of creature was hiding in it. The noise of my approach seemed to have startled the hunter because she suddenly dropped the net and jerked her head in my direction.
“I’m sorry!” I exclaimed. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you… from whatever you are doing.”
This must have reminded her of her original task and she whirled back around in time to see a turtle scuttle from the vegetation into the water where it disappeared. With dismay, the raven haired mundane stooped to pick up the net.
“You eat turtle?” It was uncommon to hear of someone that bothered trying to cook this tough shelled reptile.
“Of course not,” she retorted, standing. “I was going to catch and tame it.”

The next few deochs were spent in swamps, plains, crypts, and woodlands where Avery instructed me on capturing different creatures. Although many mundanes and aislings keep animals as pets, most of them were born domesticated and bought from a breeder.
This wasn’t the type of pet Avery wanted – she is a pet tamer. Through hours of dedication, patience, and care, Avery tames and cared for wild beasts she herself caught.
In the time I spent with her, she taught me how to do the same and I have put together this guide with everything I learned.
