THE PEACE OF CAIL:
HOW COMPASSION FLOURISHES AROUND HARMONY

Glioca's relationship with Cail is an incredibly special one, for they share many similarities with one another. In this section, I discuss how the Cailite appreciation of Beauty and Harmony amplifies Glioca's Love and Compassion.

Cail, The God Of Harmony

As it is known, Cail is the God of Harmony.  Evania tells us that Cail was born from a deceitfully induced union of Glioca and Ceannlaidir, when he lured Glioca when the moon passed too closely to the mountains. The specifics of this union is unclear, although Aislings Dryst Ravenshroud and LatentAura have speculated at some form of trickery, or forbidden herb used by Ceannlaidir to do what he did.

One does not have to be a sage to imagine Cail's deep anguish at the knowledge that his very existence in the world was unplanned. Yet,
in light of such traumatic knowledge, we know today, through witnessing all that he has Created, that Cail made the choice to pursue self-acceptance instead of destruction.

In making this critical choice, Cail, of all the Temuairan Gods, embodies the following ancient Aosdic saying:

"Chan eil e gu diofar cò às a thàinig thu. Is e na tha cudromach càite a bheil thu a’ dol. "
("It does not matter where you came from. What matters is where you are going.")

Cail's Strength, Self-Acceptance and Harmony

To start with, Cail is strong just like that of Ceannlaidir's Strength, and yet has a very different energy to it. Take the flowers and plants that have grown all over Glioca's temple, for instance. Despite Meaveen's efforts, as well as that of countless Acolytes over the years, the flora and fauna have seeped through the stone flooring of the temple of old over Deochs.  Consider the following memories, spanning over a hundred and fifty Deochs, to illustrate the changes in the Temple of Glioca:

Picture
Valhalla "Valvalis" Vallis's memory, with Aislings Sungam and Angelic, depicting Glioca Temple before restoration.

Picture
Leanna "Paramour" Runda's memory, of recent Mass of mine discussing Cail, depicting Glioca Temple after restoration.

From the memories above, we see that Cail's Strength is that of a honed tenacity and relentlessness: one that works slowly, but is constant. Contrast that strength with that of Ceannlaidir's, which is of an overpowering and raucous nature. In fact, Cail was so strong, that Ceannlaidir came to see Cail as stronger than himself, and forbade him the art of weaponry in an attempt to keep Cail from replacing and surpassing him.

Given the current numbers of Druids and Monks in the land over Warriors and Gladiators, it would seem that Ceannlaidir's worst fears may have come to pass.

In spite of this strength, Cail accepts that his power, while wonderful, has its limits. Cail devotees do not attempt to struggle against what is inevitable. To witness Cail's self-acceptance in action, all we need to do is to observe Nature. When Fall comes, and the cold sets in, do we hear the grass complain, in spite of their tenacity? Do we see the trees attempt to escape their fate, despite their own strength?

Not at all. They endure. Sometimes they wilt. And when Spring comes, as it inevitably does, they spring forth again.

Moving Towards a Path of Harmony

Moving towards Harmony is easier said than done, and Cleric Kourika Kurasawa offers a useful insight: that the way to be in Harmony is to be Mindful. Mindful of one's surroundings, Mindful of one's daily actions, and being Mindful of being one with Nature. Indeed, the devotion of Cail's followers towards Mindfulness is apparent from the complete lack of any distractions. Their temple in Undine exemplifies an environment that encourages self-reflection and meditation, symbolizing Cail's detachment from secularism.

Pashura, first High Priestess of Cail, also offers another insight on Mindfulness during one of her famous Masses by the Undine Fountain.  I have taken the liberty to make my own additions to give the poem a sense of completion. These words have been scribed in an ink of separate color. I apologize for the extra red scribbles - I ran out of black ink.

These words are a mantra for myself when I am in Temuair. It reminds me to be grateful for every action and interaction that I have in Temuair. It reminds me to be mindful and be appreciative of every moment that I am alive in Temuair. And finally, Pashura's poem reminds me of the inevitable day that Temuair itself will come to an end, chewed away by Sgrios's decay... further serving as a reminder for me to cherish what I have every sun - my companions above all.

Concluding thoughts

Perhaps this is why Compassion flourishes in the presence of Harmony, when we are able to both understand our ability to help deliver change, and let events take their natural course. When Gliocans are in Harmony, we are at our brightest. We are best able to deliver, and receive Compassion and Love, without prejudice. We accept both happiness, and rejection, and are grateful for both experiences in our lives.

In short - to improve your flow of Compassion, surround yourself with Harmonious Nature.
