Through exploring Glioca's place through the other Gods of Temuair, I hope to set an exemplar in expressing the virtues of Love and Compassion as best I can.

The Current State of Religion in Temuair

Temuair is witnessing a uniting of the temples not seen since the days of the Dagoba* in the mid twentieth Deoches.  For one, clergy and followers are making stronger efforts to attend the Masses of other temples, even that of their Enemies. As Glioca Priestess, I encourage Gliocans to attend the Masses of others, and regularly welcome worshippers from other faiths. Furthermore, every Double-Moon or so, worshippers of all faiths gather in various temples to discuss theology after masses.  Second, information is being freely shared, with religious quests being completed across temples. I regularly receive calls from Acolytes of other faiths,  seeking to learn the Wisdom of Glioca. Most recently, religious clergy have taken to announcing their Masses globally across Temuair and Medenia, spreading this knowledge far and wide.

This progress cannot be taken for granted, and must be built upon. While Aislings from the Atavism Ages through present day have  broadly posited a worldview of Conflict between the Gods, I am taking the liberty to take a different perspective:

 One, of Unity.

The Objective and Outline of This Treatise

With the perspective of Unity in mind, I have written this introductory treatise to achieve three objectives:

                   (1) A text for Gliocans.  I write this text to serve as a foundational text for Gliocans as they consider and explore their
                          relationships with Aislings of other faiths, and as they contemplate their paths in contemporary Temuair.

                  (2) A text for Aislings of other Faiths. I aim for this text to guide Aislings of other faiths in understanding Gliocans and
                          our perspective on Love and Compassion.

                  (3) A roadmap to Interfaith Harmony. M
ost importantly, this text is my contribution to interfaith harmony.
                         Through offering an insight into Glioca's Perspective of the other Gods of Temuair, my aim is to provide a path of
                         which Love and Compassion can further promote the interfaith harmony we enjoy today.

To achieve the above objectives, I explore each God, beginning with Glioca's Philosophy of Compassion. Then, I dissect Glioca's relationship with other Deities in the following order:

  • Allies: Cail, God of Nature and Harmony, followed by Deoch, God of Inspiration and Imagination;
  • Enemies: Gramail, God of Laws and "The Path", followed by Ceannlaidir, God of War and Honor;
  • Opposite: Fiosachd, God of Wealth and Fortune;
  • Neutrals: Sgrios, God of Death and Decay, and finally, Luathas, God of Gnosis and Arcana.

Through my systematic method of illustrating Glioca's relationships with the other Gods, I hope to be able to convince you, the Reader, that we Aislings, regardless of which God we worship, are United as one.

Before We Start: Protecting Against Bias

It is important to note the danger behind attempting to explain the Gods. We could never hope to fully comprehend them, because any knowledge about them are from scripts and words from a long time ago. And, these same materials are subject to Decay and Corruption.

Therefore, in order to provide the most holistic picture possible, I explain the relationship between Glioca and the other Gods through four sources of knowledge:

        I.         From my direct interviews with the mundane temple acolytes (Meaveen who attends Glioca Temple, above them all);
        II.       From our direct but limited interactions with the Gods themselves;
        III.     From scrolls in the Libraries, my observations and interviews of  devout followers of the faiths, both past and present;
        IV.     From legendary Aislings, who observed and participated in events from the Atavism Ages through contemporary Temuair.

Before We Start: Primer Texts Describing The Octagram

Reader, I recommend the following list of primer texts prior to the consideration of my treatise. It serves as a good foundation of theological philosophy for curious sparks. They can be found in the Loures*** and Mileth*** Libraries.

  • First, one would be remiss not to read Aphrodite D'Ourvean's "Sects of Temuairan Faiths" discussing the different denominations of each Temuairan faith.
  • Second,  Zyleci Mimori's "Tome of The Wandering Priestess"** and Chloe Ta'Null's "Reflections of Interactions Between Gods" provide two different perspectives of the the Octagram in exquisite detail.

 Aislings Zyleci and Chloe have different interpretations of what constitutes an Opposite. For a closer examination, Laurier O'Cathain's "A Treatise on Fiosachd's Temple and Relics", specifically the "On Opposites" section, contrasts the differences in perspectives with considerable finesse.

Wait, Before You Continue, Aisling...

Through the exploration of the other faiths through the eyes of a Gliocan, I humbly wish for you to be able to light a candle in the hearts of others, and your own. If you are reading this in a dark time for Temuair or yourself, I pray for Glioca's Wisdom to grant you Light, Love and Compassion.

Fáilte  arís, dear reader.

*Initiated by Priests Tormod and Nuit of the Ecumenical Council, the Dagoba celebrated the revitalization of  all eight Temuairan faiths through events celebrating all aspects of their divinity. The first Dagoba was held in Deoch 27, and the second was held in Deoch 29.)

**
Zyleci's illustrations have been lost to Sgrios.  Dartanian Lestor's "The Holy Star" provides a beautiful illustration of a similar Octagram.

***As of Deoch 173, many of these readings have been lost to Temuair. The curators of these ancient texts have removed them in protest of recent mundane behavior. I was not present firsthand for them, but I have gathered it was done as a form of denouement of the College.
