The Republic Neglect had also caused the guild\'s political power to decline so rapidly within two deochs that is was clear the "Golden Age" was over. Never again would Novus Imperia wield comparable political power again. The old ministry government was disbanded in favor of a new system. At the head of the new government sat two consuls who shared equal powers, a pair of censors who handled admissions, the two praetors dealt with matters of law, aediles planned guild events, and the quaestors managed the guild treasury. A Pontifex Maximus handled spiritual matters. This period in time was overall prosperous for the guild. In Deoch 39 Ramanayan and Novus Imperia were tasked by Loures to crush a rebellion in Undine which in turn lead to the Raiders of Undine epic event, the most highly attended Novus Imperia hosted event ever. Several other smaller events were also held in the following Deochs. ----------------------------------------- In the middle of Deoch 43 Lord Ramanayan stepped in with new reform efforts that were to restore the traditional elements of the guild that had declined. Surprisingly they were meet with open hostility by the current ruling government and many members. Thus began the period known as the “Times of Troubles” which lasted for the rest of the deoch. For several double moons meetings were held with heated debates regarding the current and future direction of the guild. Eventually an impasse was reached and diplomacy broke down. Ramanayan later commented this was the only time in the guild\'s history did he ever feel in danger of a coup being attempted against him. However, ultimately the liberal leadership and many members left the guild of their own accord thus saving the possible hardships of a civil war which surely would have ignited in an attempted of coup Novus Imperia\'s long time leader.. Most migrated to the guild of Ramanayan’s old political enemy Weakest, Erus D\'Terra. The final With the end of the Times of Troubles long time guild council member Theowin took over as the active head of government. Most members of the older government had either left the guild or were inactive. Taking the title of "Headmistress" the guild structure during this time resembled that of an Academy. This period saw the return to of normalcy and tradition but stagnation remained a serious problem. In Deoch 46 a series of new guild reforms were implemented which brought a complete change to the government style of Novus Imperia. Members “invested” in Novus Imperia either through material means or direct guild actions they could increase their rank and power in the guild. The system used points called "Novus Imperia Distributed Assurances" hence where the name NIDA came from. This odd system never quite caught on but all helped the grow as time went on. ------------------------- |
