"Tentative Noble Garment" Marks
Nobles can earn "Tentative Garment Marks" which can be exchanged for special armors and titles with Jean at Loures Castle. There are two ways to earn marks:
1. Submit a work which earns aisling level recognition (one mark will be earned)
2. Teach a class at Mileth College attended by at least twelve students. For every twelve students a teacher has a random chance of earning a mark.
Craft Noble Garments
Noble garments are overcoat* versions of circle three, four and five path armors. They cost one, three and eight noble garment points respectively. Noble garments cannot be traded, however they can be banked. These garments can also be dyed if the noble has the tailoring skill. A noble can only receive noble garments for his or her path and gender.
( * - Prior to Deoch 175 noble garments were armors and could be traded. All were converted automatically en-masse to overcoats. Thus it is possible for non-nobles today to have noble garments if they originally possessed them at the time of conversion to overcoats.)
---Lord / Lady of the Arts
For eight noble garment points, one can also become a Lord / Lady of the Arts. This grants a noble a legend mark and an overcoat called a Loures Lord / Loures Lady.
These overcoats are white variations of uniforms worn by Mileth and Rucesion Judges, Suomi Troupe Members and Members of the Hwarone Parliament. The Loures Lord / Lady cannot be traded, however it can be banked.
When speaking to Jean at Loures the terminology used noble garments and becoming a Lord / Lady of the Arts is not so clear. Here is what Jean says and what the options mean:
Listed Option |
Armor Given |
Mark Cost |
Unique prestigious garment |
Lord / Lady of Arts |
8 |
High-insight prestigious garment |
Insight 86 or 97 |
8 |
The middle prestigious garment |
Insight 56-71 |
3 |
The less prestigious garment |
Insight 41 |
1 |
(Note: Peasant-nobles cannot craft the 'less', 'middle', and 'high' garments as the peasant path lacks circle three, four and five armors. They can still, however, become a Lord / Lady of the Arts.)
Rent Unique (Subject Specific) Noble Garments
Unique subject-specific noble garment sets for Aisling-recognized Artists, Bards, Philosophers, Historians and Lorekeepers may be rented for periods of one double moon for the cost of one noble garment point.
Each is a set, designed by the aisling artist Bentic, a includes a pair of boots, an overcoat and a helm.
They cannot be traded, however they can be banked.
After one double moon has passed the set will be confiscated upon crossing a threshold, but can be rented again at any time for another point.
Obtain a Noble Title
Aisling-recognized Artists, Bards, Philosophers, Historians and Lorekeepers can have their subject title displayed to others for the price of one noble garment point. ("Artist", "Bard", "Historian", "Lorekeeper", "Philosopher")
((The title will appear next to your character's name on the world list, as well as be displayed when someone clicks on your character.
Note: The title will be overridden if your character later obtains another title, such as that of a political office, arena host, etc.
Titles cannot be 'swapped' at will, despite the presence of a down arrow on one's character screen next to the title field. This functionality was probably planned, but never implemented in the game.))
